More than 10,000 Athletes Expected to Compete in 40+ Sports


Colorado Springs-----------Athletes can now register online for the 2018 Rocky Mountain State Games, Colorado's largest sports festival, and choose from a lineup of 40+ sports to test their skills and a chance to take home medals for their performances. New sports for the 17th annual event include bowling, golf and horseshoes.
The Rocky Mountain State Games will take place primarily over the last two weekends in July (July 20-22 & 27-29), with most competitions in Colorado Springs, Olympic City USA.
Athletes can take advantage of early registration discounts and find all important information on their sport, venue and dates at: RockyMountainStateGames.org

Registration for most 2018 sports opened today while a select few will open in the coming months as events near. Full details can be found online.

The event owner, the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, is anticipating a fifth consecutive year with more than 10,000 athletes competing. Last summer, 10,385 athletes competed in front of more than 15,500 spectators. 

"The Sports Corp, as always, is grateful to its dedicated family of sponsors who make the Rocky Mountain State Games possible," said Sports Corp President & CEO, Tom Osborne. "We have seen this special sports event grow constantly and take its place among Colorado's most popular events for amateur athletes from across the state. It began with 2,016 athletes in 2002 and has grown to more than 10,000 athletes in recent editions. We are looking forward to more success in 2018 with continued growth and exposure for the State Games."


Rocky Mountain Senior Games Partnership

The Sports Corp is proud of the continued partnership to host the Rocky Mountain Senior Games in 2018 where 15+ events will serve as qualifiers for the 2019

National Senior Games in Albuquerque, NM. In addition to the senior divisions already offered in the Rocky Mountain State Games, the 2018 lineup for seniors offers competition in archery, badminton, basketball, bowling, indoor volleyball, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, racquetball, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis and  track & field.

"We are very pleased with our ongoing partnership with the Rocky Mountain Senior Games and the opportunity it will provide dedicated athletes ages 50 and over the chance to compete in sports that will provide them with challenges and rewards as they compete in the Pikes Peak Region," said Sports Corp Director of Operations and Marketing, Aubrey McCoy.
