Military Support Program:  
The Military Support Program has been created to allow active duty and retired service members, their spouses and dependents to participate in the Rocky Mountain State Games with up to a 50% discount off the normal registration fees. All athletes will be required to have an NHPA rating % or they will need to qualify to determine their % and be seeded in the tournament. If you do not have an NHPA rating %, please select "Open - Non-NHPA Rating" under "Mixed Singles Tournament" while registering.
Note: Classes will be determined as of July 29, 2018.  Age calculation date for all National Senior Games senior divisions 50+: December 31, 2018 (must be 50 by 12/31/2018)

Competition Rules and Format:
National Horseshoe Pitching Association rules ( will govern this competition. This will be a mixed singles tournament with NHPA class qualification for new members on Saturday followed by a senior age-specific event for athletes wanting to qualify for the 2019 National Senior Games. All NHPA tournament classes will be hosted on Sunday and will follow a round robin format. Competition schedule and format are subject to change at the commissioner's discretion based on final registrations. 
Qualification Format: All athletes will be required to have an NHPA rating % or they will need to qualify to determine their % and be seeded in the tournament. Participants will shoot 100 shoes during the qualification to earn the % and be classified into an NHPA tournament class for Sunday's tournament. 
Tournament Competition Format: All pitchers will pitch 40 shoes. Each "Ringer" will count as 3 points and each "Close" will equal 1 point.  "Dead Ringers" will cancel out. The player with the highest score wins. Men will pitch at the 40 foot line and women will pitch at the 30 foot line. Junior Boys and Girls pitch from less than 40 feet and observe the 27 foot line until the year that they are 18 for the entire calendar year. After this age, junior boys move into the Men’s Division and observe the 37 foot foul line while Junior Girls move into the Women’s Division and still observe the 27 foot foul line. Cadets are juniors up to the age of 12 for the entire calendar year and they pitch at a distance of 20 foot along with junior boys or girls. These pitchers are able to advance to the 27 foot Junior Division at any time, and observe the appropriate foul line but they may not return to the Cadet Division once they have declared themselves a Junior.
