DIRECTIONS: Take I-25 to downtown Colorado Springs. Exit I-25 at exit 141 to Highway 24 West. Follow Highway 24 West to Cascade, approximately 10 miles. Turn left at the Cascade traffic signal and follow the signs to the Pikes Peak Highway.

GATEWAY FEES: All registered cyclists will receive a pass for access through the Pikes Peak Highway Gateway. Race support members will be charged the normal Pikes Peak Highway fees.  Additional access passes can be purchased at packet pickup or the morning on the race.  Everyone accessing Pikes Peak Highway MUST have a pass - NO EXCEPTIONS.  Fees are listed below.
  • Ages 16 & Older = $10 per person
  • Ages 6-15 = $5 per person
  • Family Plan (up to 5 spectators) = $40
PARKING: Parking will be at multiple locations near the Start Line with overflow being at Crystal Reservoir Visitor Area, one mile downhill from the start line.
COURSE: This is the same course used by The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb since 1916. The race will negotiate 156 turns and climb over 4,700 feet in 12.42 miles/20km to reach the summit.  
START: The Start Area is located approximately 7 miles inside the Pikes Peak Gateway, just past Crystal Reservoir. No vehicle traffic will be allowed above the Start Area until 9:00 am except for race officials and operations.

CLOTHING DROP OFF: We will transport your warm clothing bag to the Summit. Bags must include a tag with your race number and be dropped at the Start Area prior to the start of the race.  There will be multiple transport vehicles, so double check to make sure that you have dropped your gear bag with the correct transport vehicle.  Bag tags, bibs and vehicles will be colored code to avoid confusion. There will be staff there to assist you.  
BRAKE CHECK: A MANDATORY brake check will be conducted at the Glen Cove gate by Pikes Peak Highway staff for all participants descending from the Summit prior to 9:30 am. NOTE: Overheated rims may cause air in your tires to expand to the point where they will rupture your tire on the descent.  It is wise to consider releasing some air from your tires prior to your descent.
REST AREAS: There will be hydration and snack stations at the Festival/Awards Area, Halfway Picnic Grounds, Glen Cove, Devil's Playground and at the Summit (see Maps page). Please bring a water bottle and remember NOT to litter. You have a unique opportunity to race to the summit of Pikes Peak and we ask you to be considerate of others. 
TECHNICAL SUPPORT: There will be a mechanic with “limited” support at all rest areas (see Maps page) as well as at Ski Area and Double Cut. A SAG wagon will follow competitive cyclists from the Start to the Summit.  You may also send word with another racers to relay a message to the communications team at the Rest Areas or in a support vehicle to send help if you need it.

TIME LIMITPikes Peak Highway will be open to vehicle traffic at Crystal Reservoir starting at 9:00 am. Cyclists must finish by 9:45 am to be officially timed and placed. At that time, timing will end for the race. Cyclists who have not finished as of 9:30 am may continue to ride until they encounter the escort vehicle descending from the Devil's Playground. This vehicle will be specially marked and will lead cyclists from the Summit to the Festival/Awards Area. Cyclists that encounter ANY escort vehicle are required to abort their ride and join this procession. This is MANDATORY as per the use agreement with the Pikes Peak Highway and due to safety concerns with uphill vehicle traffic after 9:00 am.
SHUTTLE SERVICE: Challenge Unlimited - Pikes Peak by Bike will be offering a shuttle service from the Summit to Glen Cove for $10 (cash only) on race day on a first-come, first-served basis.

WEATHER: The race and rides will be held rain or shine; THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. The Race Director and Pikes Peak Highway staff have the authority to cancel or stop the race and rides at their discretion due to weather or other concerns. Participants and spectators can monitor the weather forecast on Pikes Peak through the following sources: 
Awards: Medals will be distributed to the top 5 placers in each age category.  Cash prizes will be given to the top 5 placers in the mens and women Pro/Open 19+ categories.  Cash prize distributions are:
1st Place - $350
2nd Place - $250
3rd Place - $200
4th Place - $125
5th Place - $75
Awards are TENTATIVELY scheduled for 10:00 am for the USAC Hill Climb National Championship.  Timing for the awards may be adjusted due to weather and/or finish times for each category.  Updates on scheduled award times will be announced prior to the start and at the summit, if possible.
